John asks…

I had my retinal holes fixed 3 months ago. Can I be a good candidate for LASIK?

I have -7.5 in both eyes. Is it normal for this level of nearsighted person to have retinal holes?
I had laser treatment for sealing of holes. Doc checked after 3 weeks and said no more holes were formed and retina was stable.
But still she asked to wait for around six months before I go for LASIK.
Die to all this problems, can I be a good candidate for LASIK?

admin answers:

You can still be a good candidate, as long as everything is still good in another three months. Highly nearsighted people (yourself included) often have small retinal holes or tears, and as long as they can be fixed it doesn’t necessarily preclude you from having lasik done,

Ruth asks…

Just had lasik surgery, having some problems…?

Just wondering if any one experienced any problems with bright light, computer glare, dryness or one eye being clearer than the other? Any advice or similar experiences would help. thanks!!

admin answers:

Yeah, if you just had it there will be sensitivities. When I had mine, glare was really a problem for a month or two. As far as dryness, I have a remedy that works for me. I yawn. It makes my eyes water. It is easier and safer than eye drops. That sensitivity should also go away in a few weeks. One eye being clearer might be good in that when you get older one eye might be better at seeing up close while the other is better at seeing in the distance. I hope that helped.

Helen asks…

Susan asks…

what is the difference between lasik and phacoemulsification?

why is one not recommended to do phacoemulsification instead of lasik. that would solve all lens and number problems once and for all

admin answers:

Haai…Lasik and Phaco are two entirely diffrent surgeries. Lasik is done to correct refractory errors like Myopia, Hyperopia and Astigmatism. Phaco is done to remove cataracts. Cataract is a opacification of the natural lens inside the eye. Lasik is done externally on the cornea.

So you cannot alternate lasik and Phaco.

Thomas asks…

Who was the actress who got Lasik eye surgery and had a problem with it?

This was quite a few months ago. I can’t remember when, but I read about an actress who had vision problems after she got eye surgery. I think she might have been a soap opera actress.

admin answers:

Kathy Griffin is one of the most outspoken on LASIK, given her extremely negative experience, but I’m sure there are others as well. You can see/hear Kathy’s story at: http://www.kathygriffin.net/lasik.php and

Hope that helps.
