Lasik Surgery???

Is it worth it? There are a ton of risks that are listed, but the benefit is great too. Help?

admin answers:

I know the list of risks seem scary, but the odds of anything like that happening are slim to none. I work for a Lasik company and have very rarely seen any complications. If you are that worried you can always have an evaluation done by the doctor first and they can explain all those risks and odds in more detail to you! I hope this helps.

Why did the FDA restrict Lasik surgery to over 18?

Besides needing the surgery again (possibly) in a few years, I don’t see that the surgery would pose any additional risks to teenagers if their vision has stabilized.

admin answers:

There are actually some places that may preform LASIK if you are under 18 it is just considered off label. The majority of humans do not have stable vision until between the ages of 18-21, so if your vision is changing then it makes no sense to have it done because you will just have to have it done again, the same is true for diebetics, Contact lens wearers, and pregnant or breast feeding women.

George asks…

Is there ANY risk of blindness in LASIK surgery?

Even 1%
Well i am myopic and my numbers are in negative ( -4.0), so does it support correction of negative numbers?

admin answers:

Risk of blindness is alot less than 1%

There are problems like dry eyes, halos, glares, poor night vision. They are around 30% common to get but they are temporarily and go away anytime between 1 week-6 months after the surgery.

There is a 1% chance that 1 of the problems above could become permenant for the rest of your life.

Yes it supports correction of negative numbers. You are probably a good candidate for the surgery.

Lasik Risks & Limitations?

Has anyone had a Lasik surgery to get rid of glasses? If yes, what are some of the risks, complications or side effects?

Does Lasik correct Spherical, Cylindrical and Axis? What is the max correctable power?

Has anyone been denied a Lasik due to its limitations to correct your power?

admin answers:

Hi — I had the Lasik surgery about 2 years ago — My eyes were really bad and was almost refused to have it done — My astigmatism was really bad — I had to have the most painfull proceedure done and the one that takes the longest recovery — Instead of cutting around the lense and flipping it over and trimming it down/slitting it they had to trim down my whole eye from top down — The recovery took 3 months vs. 1 hour — I couldn’t see to walk or do anything for a week and the pain was really bad (but they screwed up on my meds and sent me home with no numbing pain drops for my eyes for 2 days) — For the 1st few weeks I just knew I had made the biggest mistake of my life — That had always been one of my biggest fears, loosing my sight, because my eyes had been so bad my whole life and I had worn glasses since 7 yrs old — But after the 3 months it was incredible — The surgery I had done was the most painful and the longest recovery but it’s the best on the eyes — And prefered if the person will do it — My eye sight is great now, better than most who have the surgery because of the different proceedure — No glasses at all and I love it (LOVE IT!!) It was worth it all — There are no dashes or spectras because of slashes in the eyes — I can rub my eyes and not fear the lense turning up because of the surgery — It’s great — I suggest that you talk in detail to an Eye Dr. That you can trust, go get the workup done on the surgery and see what the Eye surgens have to say (you still can walk out up to the point you agree to go back and have the surgery) even after all the tests they will let you know your chances and help you make an informed decision and let you decide if you still want it before they take you back that day to do it — As far as it being worth it, YES, it’s worth it — My mom’s had it done too — My experience was worse than hers but my vision is 100 X’s better than hers too and again, it’s soooooooo worth it — Hope this helps and please feel free to contact me if you have any more questions, I’ll be happy to help –

Who can I call to answer general questions about lasik surgery?

I have been thinking about have the lasik procedure performed but I’m concerned about the risk factors and want to know what I should expect. Anybody have any suggestions on what outfit I should use and if they have a toll free telephone number I can call to ask general questions concerning lasik surgery?

admin answers:

You can call LasikPlus at their toll free telephone number of 877-288-4605 with any general questions you might have. I do know that LasikPlus is trusted by Trusted LASIK Partner of 7 out of 8 Health and Vision Plan Providers and that they guarantee their service. They also give a free comprehensive LASIK exam as well to make sure you are suited for the treatment. They appear to be one of the largest outfits in the country doing lasik surgery so I would give them a call with any of your questions.
